About Me
I’m a filmmaker, writer and music manager, producer and promoter. I also host the podcast My Favorite Album.
I produced (with Michael Carpenter) the Jim Lauderdale tribute album Halfway Down Under, where we reinvented fourteen songs from Jim’s incredible catalogue. I’ve also produced several songs with Imogen Clark, including a memorable session at Abbey Road.
My latest feature length documentary is Tommy Emmanuel: The Endless Road, for the first time revealing the full untold story of guitar icon Tommy Emmanuel. The film features artists like Barry Gibb, Joe Satriani, Jason Isbell, Olivia Newtown-John and Eric Idle. Stay tuned here for updates on the film’s release.
My documentary Jim Lauderdale: The King of Broken Hearts premiered at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville and at the Grammy Museum in LA. It charts the life and career of Grammy-winning Americana pioneer Jim Lauderdale and features a cast including Elvis Costello and Gary Allan. It was released in 2014.
I wrote and directed my first film Benjamin Sniddlegrass and the Cauldron of Penguins in 2010. It was narrated by my childhood hero Stephen Fry.
In 2014, I launched the podcast My Favorite Album. Each episode I talk to a different guest about an album they love and how it's influenced them. Over ten years and more than 400 episodes, I've spoken to everybody from Kacey Musgraves to Neil Finn to Bob Odenkirk to Jason Isbell. You may have also heard me on BBC Radio 4’s Screenshot, the Empire Film Podcast and Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio FiveLive Film Review Programme.
I've directed over fifty music videos for artists as varied as British cult icon Robyn Hitchcock and ARIA-winning country stars The McClymonts. In 2018, I was nominated for a Golden Guitar Award for Music Video of the Year and a CMC Music Award for Australian Music Video of the Year, and in 2019, I was again nominated for the Golden Guitar Award for Music Video of the Year.
